The Academic Enrichment Upward Bound (AEUB) is a federal TRiO program funded by the US Department of Education and based on the campus of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

AEUB serves students who are either potential first-generation college students or who come from a financially disadvantaged background, or both. The goal is to assist the participants to successfully graduate from high school, enroll in college the fall immediately following their high school graduation, and earn a college degree within six years of their high school graduation. All services are provided at no cost to the participants and their families.

AEUB seeks to serve individuals from five area target high schools:

  • Anderson County
  • Austin-East
  • Central
  • Clinton
  • Fulton

AEUB assists students in reaching their academic goals by providing:

  • academic instruction and tutoring in all subject areas;
  • college admission information;
  • financial aid information;
  • financial literacy information;
  • career exploration and guidance;
  • academic advising;
  • preparation for the ACT;
  • college visits;
  • community service opportunities; and
  • exposure to college life and experiences through an on-campus residential experience.

How to Apply

Step 1: Pick up an application from your high school guidance counselor, print one from the applications page of the AEUB website, or call the CAPS Outreach Center at 865-974-4466.

Step 2: Complete the entire application and return it to your high school guidance counselor or the AEUB representative visiting your school each week.

Step 3: An AEUB staff member will contact you after your application is received to provide you with more details.
